LIMEHOUSE BASIN BUILDINGS Since the residential development of the Limehouse basin, it has always been viewed as a sought after place to live, certainly in there amongst the best addresses in Londons Docklands. With it’s calm tranquil outlook over the basin’s boat mast’s and sails, located equally between Canary Wharf and the City, and being a stones throw from the ever popular Narrow street, it seems a far cry from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The redevelopment of the basin started in 1983 as part of the London Docklands Development Corporation’s overall master plan for the Docklands area. However, with the property boom and bust of the 1980’s, it took many years for the scheme to come to fruition, with most of the luxury blocks only being completed around the turn of the century. By the beginning of the new millennium and with the support of British Waterways and Tower Hamlets the once derelict land surrounding the basin had been developed and it is now held in high regard by its residents and visitors alike.
